Temple Grandin in Utah

If you're new to the Autism community, you may come across the name Temple Grandin, and wonder who she is.  Temple Grandin has been a big influence on understanding Autism today.  What makes her so different? Well she has Autism and she is able to communicate how she feels and how she thinks.   As Autism has become more prevalent,
there have been more and more people who are affected by Autism that have been able to help others through their own experiences, and it has been huge in helping us understand Autism.

Temple Grandin is a very successful woman who has excelled in her career, she is a Doctor of Animal Science, a professor, an author, a speaker, and probably a few other great things.  A dvd came out a few years ago based on her life called 'Temple Grandin' and stars Claire Danes.  I was very impressed, and yes I definitely shed some tears.

Seeing similarities in her life to kids that I have had the privilege of working with encourages me to do all that I can do to help these kids progress and move forward.

I'm sure this will be a topic I come back to, but for now I just wanted to give a little introduction.  Temple Grandin is coming to Provo, Utah this Friday (November 30) to speak at the Utah Autism & Asperger's Syndrome Conference.  To register go to: http://www.fhautism.com/Conferences/UtahAutismAspergersSyndromeConference/tabid/340/Default.aspx

I think she's come to Utah before, but I wasn't able to attend, so I'm really excited to hear her speak.
